Primary visits

I have three visits planned to local primary schools to talk about the school library, books and reading plus a little bit of blogging.
Last week a colleague and I visited Goosnargh Oliversons year 5 class and had a really exciting time. Within a short space of time pupils were able to take photos, upload them and blog about the activities on the BBEC school blog.

A good time was had by all as 15 members enjoyed a literary walk around Preston, led by Blue Badge guide Mel Dod. He informed us about the history of the Guild as well as indicating places where Charles Dickens had visited and (maybe) written about in Hard Times as the fictious place Coke Town. We also stopped off at the historical Black Horse which has 3 doors opening on to 3 different streets.
At the end we retired to Grey Friars hostelry for a late meal and chat.

display idea

I visited The National Media Museum in Bradford and saw this idea for a display in the library. It was part of an exhibition where visitors were invited to read a line which would be included in a compilation book.
