Lancashire Librarians Network meeting

Today, nearly 30 librarians, school and County, met for the last time this academic year. I presented a workshop on the recent Ofsted report on Improving Literacy in the Secondary school: a shared approach.
I think everyone enjoyed the opportunity to share ideas and good practice.

SLA Conference

I had a fabulous (though tiring) time at the conference in Belfast last weekend. I attended several really interesting sessions on Apps, Literacy and Library Commons as well as a visit to the Titanic exhibition and a Ceilidh on Saturday night. Authors Liz Pichon and Ali Sparkes spoke to the audience and there were exhibitors from publishers and library suppliers. I came back with more than 20 books which luckily came in under the weight allowance for the flight home.

Library Gremlins

I have had to say goodbye to a wonderful group of year 11 girls who came to the library almost everyday.  They were a joy to talk to even if they did write on the whiteboard and "dinged" my "like" bell.
I wish them all the best for the future.
Library Gremlins!

Pupil Librarians

The bad news is that I have had to say goodbye to a tremendous year 11 pupil librarian who is leaving, BUT the good news is I have just finished interviewing three more pupils who wish to become librarians and very good they were too.
